DESCRIPTION

This is administrative and supervisory work in the management of area district warehousing. An employee in this class is responsible for receiving, warehousing, inventory control and the distribution of goods to schools, as well as developing policies and procedures to ensure the smooth operation of the warehouse. Work is performed under the direction of the District Director, but the employee is given considerable latitude in executing his/ her functions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)

  • Determines the need for commodities and supplies and arranges for the purchase of those commodities and supplies by monitoring the quantity and quality of commodities stored;
  • Place orders and arranges deliveries of commodities to provide sufficient balances on hand;
  • Supervises receipt and delivery of both Federal and locally purchased commodities;
  • Uses reports from the Food Service Supervisor to ensure compliance with good health practices and Federal regulations at schools;
  • Supervises the maintenance of all warehouse records of receipt, distribution and inventory;
  • Provides explanation of irregularities to the State Office and District Director;
  • Consults with all employees in the warehouse and schools about the correct job procedure for efficient operation;
  • Reports immediately to the Director any willful disregard of job procedures or direct orders by an employee;
  • Supervises warehouse employee attendance regularly;
  • Deliver and distribute federal donated commodities as requested;
  • Ensure that reporting and internal control systems are functioning and all relevant records are properly maintained;
  • Performs other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the principles of administration and supervision;
  • Knowledge of Federal laws, rules, regulation governing commodities, supplies and distribution of such;
  • Knowledge of the operational principles of trucks and related automotive equipment;
  • Excellent skills in communicating clearly and effectively in English, including writing clear and concise documents;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Must be flexible, proactive, highly motivated, resourceful, professional and efficient;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Ability to lift seventy (70) pounds or more.
  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment in carrying out functions of the position;

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management or other related field with five (5) years or more of progressive relevant experience in administration, warehouse and storage operations; and
  • Valid Virgin Islands driver’s license.

DESCRIPTION

Work in this class involves unskilled miscellaneous tasks in the food service department of a school.  It involves the performance of a variety of tasks including some of a custodial or laboring nature, although primary emphasis is on food service activities. Work requires the maintenance of a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation. Duties may be learned on the job without the need of prior experience. Work does not normally include responsibility for cooking, but for very simple food preparation, such as preparing salads and for caring for the kitchen, pantries, and dining room.  Work follows a set schedule and is performed under close supervision of a dietitian, food service supervisor or cook.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)

• Assists cooks in washing, peeling and preparing fruits and vegetables, cleaning, dressing, and cutting up fish and meats;

• Cuts, slices and butters bread, makes sandwiches, and assists in setting up trays and dishing out food;

• Prepares cereals, toast, coffee, salads and other simple menu items;

• Obtains meats and other refrigerated food items from cold storage, weigh and measure other food items to be used;

• Sweeps and mop pantry, kitchen, dining room, and other floors as required;

• Cleans tables, chairs, and floors in the dining room and kitchen; washes food utensils and dishes; and cleans equipment such as ranges, counters, and meat blocks;

• Serves meals to school children;

• Collects soiled dishes, utensils, and trays, and return them to the kitchen;

• Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES

• Some knowledge of the preparation and service of food as well as the use and care of dishes, and kitchen utensils.

• Some knowledge of sanitary methods to be used in food preparation and related food service activities.

• Ability to perform simple mathematical computations, calculations and measurements.

• Some knowledge of the preparation and service of food as well as the use and care of dishes, and kitchen utensils.

• Ability to perform routine custodial duties and to do moderately heavy lifting and moving as required in large scale kitchen operation.

  • Operates large gas and electric cooking ranges, and ensures that they are properly used and maintained;
  • Performs other related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Considerable knowledge of the equipment, utensils and materials used in preparing and serving large quantities of food;
  • Knowledge of the care and cleaning of kitchen equipment;
  • Knowledge of the practices and techniques of large-scale kitchen equipment;
  • Ability to direct the work of small groups of food service workers engaged in the preparation of food, cleaning kitchen and dining areas;
  • Ability to read write and comprehend written materials associated with the performance of the job;
  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all persons contacted  in the course of the work;
  • Ability to work long hours while standing;
  • Skill in cooking a wide variety of foods;
  •  Good physical condition sufficient to permit working long hours in the kitchen and the performance of moderately heavy (at least 70lbs) lifting.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • One (1) year experience in cooking foods
  • Possession or ability to qualify for a food handler’s health certificate

DEFINITION

Performs administrative duties for executive management.  Responsibilities may include screening calls, making travel and meeting arrangements, preparing reports and financial data, training and supervising other support staff, and customer relations.  Requires strong computer and internet research skills, also calls for flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination experience, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)

  • Takes and transcribes dictation, screens calls and callers and maintains appointment book for supervisor;
  • Interprets and explains rules, regulations, and policies to office personnel, employees in other offices, and to other persons contacting the office and organizes and supervises a small office staff;
  • Assembles and disseminates information; transmits staff instructions;
  • Receives and sorts incoming mail, drafts replies to inquiries and prepares letters of request where supervisor’s immediate attention is not necessary;
  • Review subordinates’ work for correctness and completeness;
  • Prepares rough draft or monthly and annual reports on the operation of proposed changes in current policies;
  • Attends and participates in various staff meetings to keep informed of proposed changes in current policies;

Sports and Athletics Development Director

DESCRIPTION

The Sports and Athletics Development Director will be responsible for the development and implementation of programs and initiatives to support athlete development. The individual will work closely with the District and Physical Education Coordinator to ensure positive impact for the school community and the students. Individual will be responsible for supporting the coaches to improve communication and assist in college recruitment, promote athletic events, and represent the Department at athletic and school-wide events across the territory. The Director will also be required to identify new revenue sources through collaboration with external stakeholders, participate in writing development plans, policies, and procedures, ensure compliance with school rules at athletic events, address complaints, collaborate with the coordinator to determine and meet transportation needs, and handle special projects. Individual must be able to work independently, be organized, be able to prioritize, meet deadlines and maintain meticulous records.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)

  • Advises the Commissioner of Education as it pertains to all programs and initiatives relative to the development of all athletic programs;
  • Establish and interpret policies and procedures pertaining to the effective execution of all athletic programs;
  • Coordinate facilities management of all Department of Education (DOE) athletic venues;
  • Serves as liaison between DOE and Sports Parks and Recreation and other governmental agencies;
  • Organize and provide athletic services to meet students’ needs;
  • Assist the Physical Education Coordinator with evaluating the programs on a regular systematic basis to  ensure the programs’ effectiveness;
  • Develop and make recommendations for sound policies for the development and improvement of sports programs;
  • Develop training programs for coaches to ensure the best operation in the area of athletics;
  • Develop the necessary budget to ensure that all sport activities to include travel has adequate financial support;
  • Assist with the implementation of all athletic polices as set forth by the respective school board authority;
  • Serves as liaison between the Department and other athletic authorities for the purpose of addressing matters that impact the athletic program;
  • Monitors athletic program/services for the purpose of ensuring stated outcomes are achieved, relevant policies and procedures are met, and services are efficiently provided within budgetary guidelines;
  • Supports coaches and other administrators for the purpose of achieving the goals of the athletic program;
  • Assist with the coordination of a variety of activities (e.g. certification of coaches, athletic schedules, district athletic allocations, meetings, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of delivering services which conform to established guidelines;
  •  Assist with the coordination and preparation of the necessary documents required for student travel and submittal through the required chain of command for timely approval;
  • Collaborate with VIDE leadership on the development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of a Physical Education curriculum;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
