CONGRATULATIONS TO:
khalid R. Fleming - LOGO WINNER & Irvin Mason, Jr. - SLOGAN CREATOR
This Logo is truly a one of a kind, state of the art design. Thanks to Khalid R. Fleming, the designer, the Division of Virgin Islands Cultural Education has a logo that truly represents what the Division is all about. The worker seen cutting stalks of SUGAR CANE on a sugarcane plantation displays a practice that is a part of Virgin Islands history. Sugarcane fields were in abundance throughout the territory, was a main crop used for trade. The COAL POT was the main cooking tool used to prepare a variety of tasty delicacies that we still enjoy today. Also, the KEG DRUM is an instrument that was used by our African Ancestors and is used to create the sweet harmonious sounds of Quelbe Music, the official music of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Most importantly, the textbook showcases both school districts in the US Virgin Islands.
