Employee, Parent, Community Professional Development Conferences begin December 3

December 1, 2020

ST. THOMAS, USVI – The Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE) will hold two virtual conferences from December 3-23 to provide employees, parents, and the general public with information to aid in the overall understanding of the Department's functions and foster more effective engagement with the GVI's largest agency.

Education Commissioner Racquel Berry-Benjamin pointed out that the conferences, which will be held via Zoom and in some instances, streamed live on the Department's Facebook page, is a part of the VIDE's transformation to achieve the overarching goals of having knowledgeable, caring and effective employees in every school and office, and to restore and re-build community trust in the Virgin Islands public education system.

“This training series aims to educate employees, parents and the VI community on all facets of the Department of Education," Berry-Benjamin said. "The better-informed we all are about how the VIDE operates, the changes we are making and what is available through the VIDE, ensures oneness of mind, a solid support system for students, and the advancement of public education in the Virgin Islands."

Department of Education employees will have private access to trainings on Microsoft Teams, the Employee Evaluation System, TimeForce, tech support, and more. Parents and the general public will have access to a host of trainings on topics relevant to meet their needs.
