The Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School Music Department rang in the holiday season with its Annual Christmas Concert featuring student and staff performances on Saturday, December 8 in the school’s auditorium.
The Burning Blazers steel band, under the direction of Liston Sewer, transported the audience to a magical place with “O Little Town of Bethlehem” and “O Holy Night.” Music Department Chairperson Calvin Jones then led the Concert Band in a myriad of melodies, including classics such as, “The Three-minute Nutcracker” and “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.”
The BCB Concert Chorus, directed by Lonnette Gumbs, enamored the audience with “Christmas in the Sun” and “Remember Love.”
BCB Middle School Music Department newcomer, Dr. Harley Robertson made his debut directing the Concert Band as they played “Joyful and Triumphant.” The Faculty and Staff Steel Pan Group also stunned attendees with “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “O Holy Night” during its debut performance. Group members included Mrs. Monsanto (computer operator), Ms. Hansen (accountant), Mrs. Frazer (kitchen manager), and Mrs. Margarita Smith (SPED teacher).
