First Annual SeaPerch Robotic Competition Makes A Splash!

The Virgin Islands Department of Education, in collaboration with the United States Navy, held its first annual SeaPerch Robotic Competition in both districts, April 9 and 16, 2016.  The St. Croix District’s competition was held on April 9 at the Good Hope Country Day School, where 12 teams competed. The Good Hope Country Day School Team C eventually emerged as the High School Division champions and the Elena Christian Junior High School Caribbean Splash team took home the gold for the Middle School Division.

The April 16 competition was held on St. Thomas at Paradise Cove, located on the east end of St. Thomas.  The Charlotte Amalie High School Robotics team competed against the Ivanna E. Kean High School Rays Robotics team. In the end, Rays Robotics emerged as the winner of the competition.  Two teams, Caribbean Splash and Rays Robotics, have been selected to travel to Louisiana State University, May 20-21, 2016, for the National SeaPerch Challenge 2016.
