The Office provides access to data to all interested persons, organizations, agencies and institutions. In order to meet reporting and accessibility mandates the office manages, coordinates, monitors and collects data in the production of quality and usable information. We collaborate with the University of the Virgin Islands and other entities such as the Regional Educational Lab to conduct research on areas/issues that affects student learning, education programs and/or projects. Our office provides technical assistance to other state offices and the districts and schools in using the SIS,collecting data, evaluating programs/projects and conducting research.
The Office plays a primary role in defining the Virgin Islands federally mandated accountability system and manages the electronic processes required to arrive at school and district performance determinations.
The Office of PRE responds to requests for assistance, provides needed information, facilitates training, collaborates with the districts, and responds to other needs of stakeholders. Professional staff members participate in innovative research investigations that provide empirical data on the public schools that have implications for the review of practices, and the establishment of research based procedures and policies.
As part of our mandate and effort to provide data PRE takes a primary role in the implementation and management of the Virgin Islands State Longitudinal Data System called Virgin Islands Virtual Information System (VIVIS) and the Student Information System, PowerSchool.
